Photos from the acclaimed early 20th-century photographer, Doris Ulmann, will be exhibited at designsmithgallery. The exhibit entitled, "Beyond Pictorialism: The Photography of Doris Ulmann," featuring original platinum and oil pigment depicts a range of Ulmann’s work from the largest private collection of Ulmann’s work in existence. The signed platinum and oil pigment prints to be shown were developed and printed by Ulmann’s own hands prior to her death in August 1934-- many dating from early in her career in 1918 to the early 1930’s.

Connecting the traditional definition of a fall Homecoming to the conceptual notion of coming together, Homecoming: a Local Perspective features works from selected artists who have been coming and going to and from Cincinnati; these artists have either been away on sabbatical, or away on artist residencies. Some call Cincinnati home at the moment. A few live in other cities now (but have called Cincinnati home at some point), and teach in other cities (or have not shown this work yet in Cincinnati).

A multi-cultural themed event about traveling the Silk Road. Includes merchants and trading booths, a raffle, ethnic foods and special performances by Gaiananda Music & Dance Ensemble and other special guest performers. These musicians dig deep into the blues tradition of a particularly “peachy” Southern rock style.

Did you know that Cincinnati is a great place to hear homegrown blues music? The Bluesathon will introduce you to all the local talent we have playin’ the blues. From Mason, Ohio, to Dayton, Kentucky, and from Indiana to Anderson Township, you can hear acoustic blues, electric blues, alternablues, and gritty old-fashioned Delta blues every day of the week for nearly three weeks. For 20 Nights, it’s nothin’ but the blues, all around town.
